Job Description:

PowerUp is a performance intelligence platform inspired by elite sports. Just as world-class athletes rely on data and coaching to reach peak performance, we help employees, teams, and organisations do the same. By uncovering and addressing the root causes that hold people back, PowerUp's software delivers highly personalised, data-driven insights and actionable solutions that drive measurable business impact – boosting outcomes like sales growth, AI adoption, employee retention, burnout reduction, and risk management.

As we enter the next stage of growth, we're looking to hire an ambitious, creative Data Scientist who thrives in ambiguity, loves building from scratch, and wants to shape a product that uses data science, machine learning, and generative AI to transform individual, team, and organisational performance.

PowerUp is building toward an agent-first platform where AI becomes the primary interface for users. You'll be a key contributor to building and deploying AI agents, developing the ML models and statistical frameworks that power our proprietary analytics, and helping us push into predictive and generative AI capabilities.

What youll do:

  • Build, train, and deploy machine learning models – from exploratory analysis through to production-ready solutions that power our platform.
  • Develop and deploy AI agents using Google AI Studio and/or Azure AI Foundry – these are the primary user interface for our product.
  • Apply statistical rigour to psychometric and survey data – validating our proprietary measurement framework and identifying correlations that drive actionable insights.
  • Advance our analytical capabilities – moving beyond aggregation into predictive modelling, deep learning, and generative AI applications.
  • Work closely with the CTO and tech team to integrate models into our platform.
  • Translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights for product decisions and client-facing reports.

Required

  • 2-4 years hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, or applied statistics.
  • Strong Python skills with experience in ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar).
  • Solid grounding in statistics – hypothesis testing, regression, correlation analysis, and experimental design.
  • Experience with SQL and data manipulation at scale.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and working independently in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Professional English proficiency (B2+ level).

Preferred

  • Experience with GenAI/LLM/SLM integration, prompt engineering, or agentic AI workflows.
  • Cloud AI platform experience – GCP, Azure, Databricks, or similar.
  • Startup experience – you've worked where speed, pragmatism, and wearing multiple hats is the norm.
  • Background in behavioural science, organisational psychology, or psychometrics – you understand survey data and measurement validation.
  • Spark, Databricks, or distributed computing experience.
  • Published research or academic background in statistics, ML, or a quantitative field.

Why PowerUp

  • Remote-first, flexible working environment.
  • A rare opportunity to join a high-potential start-up and directly influence product, technical direction, and culture.
  • High ownership: your ideas will meaningfully shape the company's trajectory.
  • A team culture that values passion, autonomy, continuous learning, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • A chance to build cutting-edge AI systems with meaningful real-world impact.
  • The opportunity to shape your own career path as our team and product scale.
